If we care enough about our next generation and their right to enjoy their rich legacy of taste, we need to share our experiences and values we have derived from our favorite eateries in our own, little Indias.

Maarewa is a platform that lets people exactly do that. By providing people a place to share and talk about eateries from every corner of India, Maarewa hopes to curate all kinds of eateries that are culturally linked to a specific region, locality, ethnicity or traditional production practice.

We thank Venkataraman a.k.a. Venky for featuring maarewa on his blog, Venkinesis.

Add a Blogpost

Curation of all the eateries and curation around each eatery.

In the light of accomplishing this ambitious task, we have recently introduced a new feature on maarewa, Blog Posts. If you wrote about an eatery on your blog you can now add that blog post on the page of that eatery and let others know about what you told about the tastes in detail.

What typeface should be used and of what size? What should be the zoom level of map on every stall page? Should we call it Search or Find? Design is always the hot topic @maarewa and more so in this hot weather of May. As we wrote earlier May has been exciting.

We had rolled out a completely new maarewa.com a few weeks back and we are pleased with your positive feedback about this total face-lift of the website. More honest feedback from all of you are required as they you know that has made the difference in past also.

We also adopted a new tagline - Celebration of Indian tastes. Everyone in India is already doing that, maa rewa has just joined the fest.

As we are in the process of integrating some old features into this new design, ‘Edit History’ is still due on its new avatar. However, new features like Nearby Eateries are covering for it. Check it out and enjoy the all new maarewa.com

The beginning of History

This May will be an exciting month for maarewa. We have been working on some great new features which we plan to roll out in the coming weeks.

To begin with, today we are launching a major utility feature on maarewa. It’s called ‘Edit History’.

Each edit made on an eatery page will be saved and displayed on the new History page along with details like when and by whom it was made.

In case you find any information on the eatery page incorrect, inappropriate, stale, unnecessary or discover an act of vandalism, the Revert button enables you to undo all that in one simple click.

We think it is a major feature because it ensures safety of data, which is primary on an open platform like maarewa. It also brings in more accountability to the system. We also hope that this feature will be key in helping users connect with each other in days to come.

As always, we need your help in making this feature more useful. Explore and let us know what you think about it…

Proudly opening to public, the all new (and awesome) maa rewa gallery… Of course a picture is worth a lot of words (some say 1000, but the exact number is debatable). And we at maa rewa also realised it’s a lot better to show than tell.  Our new browse page is an attempt to showcase the eateries, making them more appealing visually.

We would like to thank all the maa rewa user for their invaluable feedback that made this page possible. We wouldn’t have thought of launching this page hadn’t it being suggested by all the avid maa rewa fans.   Cordially invite you to take a tour: Browse Page

Satyam: Is there any way an entrepreneur could validate his idea before starting? Most are afraid they will fail so they never start.

Avinash: Really good question, Satyam! I believe, the bigger the failure more is the learning. So, as soon as you have your own validation of the idea, the best way forward would be to give it shape. Execute it and do not wait for a perfect moment. While maa rewa was shaping up, I asked Jimmy Wales on twitter, how many articles did wikipedia have on its day one. He replied, “None. Wikipedia went live as soon as the software was ready.” That answers so many questions, doesn’t it?

We are different. Different in completely different ways.

How is maa rewa different?

- People share their favourite eateries with other people.

- People contribute in making other people’s experience even better by continuous edits on eateries.

- People make use of already existing tools to have conversations about each eatery.
